Update – February 15, 2022: dP has rejoined local Northern Virginia classic rock band Homer’s Donut as they book gigs for 2022, with their next live performance in March 2022 in Leesburg, VA with others lined up through the summer into fall. He is also pursuing solo gigs at various local venues and has updated his studio to begin recording additional original material for future internet releases.
Update – July 12, 2020: dP’s day job still sapping most of his time, but just as he started to get a bead on Old Town Alexandria, VA music venues, the coronavirus pandemic kicked in. He’s hunkering down with the rest of us until live music can once again be a reality. Watch for occasional cover tune videos on this site and Youtube as he whips up some quick products in his studio to keep himself sane, while adding some more dance tunes to his repertoire.
Update – Aug 9, 2019: All work and no play makes dP a dull boy……
Update – December 16, 2018: dP and his studio have relocated to the heart of Old Town Alexandria, VA. His day job has been hopping over the last several months, limiting time for creativity in the studio or adding to the performance schedule. dP will be scoping music venues in Old Town in the coming months to identify places that are a good match for his talents. Suggestions welcome—drop me a line at dp@dpdurkee.com.
Update – August 6, 2017: dP’s debut EP entitled Musical Crisis is released! The EP is available on iTunes, Google Play, Spotify, Amazon, and several others. Both the EP and dP merchandise are also available at Bandcamp. Videos for three of the five EP songs are posted on dP’s YouTube channel. It has been a long and rewarding journey with all elements of Musical Crisis being created solely by dP, to include writing, recording, producing, video production, and website development. Please enjoy the music and spread the word!
Update – April 27, 2017: Progress continues on the upcoming EP with recoding complete for all five tracks. Mixing and mastering underway to complete the EP, then videos will be created for posting to YouTube at time of the release.
Update – January 2, 2017: Two songs for the upcoming EP have been completed in the studio…one with accompanying lyrics video.
Update – Sep 12, 2016: dP has begun development of a 5 song EP in his studio. The EP is scheduled for release in the summer of 2017.

Songs of Dedication (Free Downloads)
Links to two of dP’s previously recorded original songs of dedication are listed below. Wait For the Dawn is dedicated to those who lost their lives on 9/11 to include the youngest victim in the Pentagon tragedy–Dana Falkenberg, age 3–and her family, as well as to those who protect our freedom and keep us safe. The sound of taps is interwoven throughout the song. The Smile Lives On is dedicated to dP’s late mother and father. Both songs will be rerecorded, remixed, and re-released at a later date.
Wait for the Dawn – 9/11 Dedication

WAIT FOR THE DAWN
Autumn blue in crystal skies
Carefree spirits deaf to terror’s cries
Iron eagles soar, gripped by evil’s hand
Fierce hate brings down grand symbols of our land
Wait for the dawn, We must carry on
They gave it all for you and me
Home of the brave and the land of the free
Wait for the dawn, We will carry on
Their bravery for all to see, Let freedom ring through eternity
We heal each day as they stand guard
Never forget those who walked the final yard
Solemn yet proud, our flags fly high
Never had the chance to say goodbye
Wait for the dawn, We must carry on
They gave it all for you and me
Home of the brave and the land of the free
Wait for the dawn, We will carry on
Their bravery for all to see, Let freedom ring through eternity
[Oh say can you see by the dawn’s early light…]

The Smile Lives On – Dedicated to dP’s late Mother and Father

THE SMILE LIVES ON
Hold you deep within my heart
Eternal love, we’ll never be apart
The river flows carving canyons deep
The wind blows, whispers you to sleep
I turn around, you’re still gone, but the smile lives on
Looking back to a gentler time,
Looking forward to what remains
Your spirit in my soul
Your blood in my veins.
Carry you each and every day
Your guiding hand showing me the way
The sand falls through the hour glass
The sun sets, another day has passed
I turn around, you’re still gone, but the smile lives on
Look to the sky and see the radiant beams, the smile lives on
